Castlebrooke has sold the CIS Tower in central Manchester to MCR Property Group.

The sale follows Castlebrooke's filing last week of a pre-application planning notice for its Belfast site between Royal Avenue and St Anne's Cathedral.

The notice proposes 1,000 new homes and two hotels.

Castlebrooke had owned the 28-storey CIS Tower since 2017 and had obtained planning permission to refurbish it.

MCR founder Aneel Mussarat described the tower as an asset with untapped potential.

This is the second redevelopment scheme Castlebrooke has sold in central Manchester.

Proposals for the Belfast area have been under consideration since 2006 when a retail-led Royal Exchange scheme received planning permission.

Castlebrooke acquired the site in 2016 and received permission for an office-led scheme in 2020.

Last year the company sold several properties including the Assembly Rooms to Belfast City Council for around £3 million.

The new Belfast plans include a new street, alleyways and public spaces linking the area to the wider city centre.

They also include a revitalised Writers' Square opposite the cathedral.
