Three Derry assault cases listed at magistrates court
Three individuals appeared at Derry Magistrates Court on Thursday facing assault charges.
Paul Michael Murray, 41, of St Canice's Park, was charged with assaulting his mother and criminal damage on May 24 and with similar offences on May 26. A police officer told the court that officers attended the mother's home on both dates after reports of arguments and physical incidents. Murray was granted bail on condition that he has no contact with his mother and is due to appear again on June 18.
Martin Sheridan, 32, of Spencer Road, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and with a domestic abuse offence on May 26. The court was told that CCTV footage showed an altercation in which Sheridan was alleged to have punched and headbutted a woman after she slapped him. Sheridan was released on bail subject to a curfew, electronic tag and exclusion from the Waterside area and is due back in court on June 18.
Courtney Temple, 22, also of Spencer Road, was charged with malicious wounding, possessing an offensive weapon and assault on May 26. Police told the court that a man reported being stabbed with a broken bottle but later CCTV showed Temple being assaulted by the same man. Temple was granted bail with conditions including a curfew, tag, exclusion from the cityside and no contact with the alleged injured party. She is due to appear again on June 18.
