Dungannon Library closed earlier this month after flooding caused by problems in the underground drainage network.

The main library services have been relocated to Ranfurly House, a listed Victorian building at the entrance to the Hill of the O'Neill.

Libraries NI and Mid Ulster Council arranged the move to the site, which served as a seat of military and political power for the O'Neill clan from the 14th century.

Margaret Bell, Head of Services at Libraries NI, said the arrangement shows community cooperation and allows the library to continue offering activities from babies to the elderly.

William Ward, who runs an adult reading group at the library, said the space remains important for social interaction and reducing isolation.

Angela Lynch, who attends rhythm and rhyme classes with her granddaughter, said the new location keeps routines intact and supports children's development.

Colm Gildernew, Sinn Féin assembly member, and Frances Burton, DUP councillor and chair of Mid Ulster District Council, welcomed the partnership between the council and Libraries NI.

Libraries NI stated that repairs to the original building are underway and the library is expected to reopen by mid-June, subject to progress.
