Chelsea Flower Show garden to be relocated to Strabane
A garden awarded a gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show will be relocated to Strabane.
The garden, designed by Rob Hardy, was created for the UK charity Trussell and will be installed at the Strabane Community Project.
The project runs education and employment programmes and operates a foodbank.
Ursula Doherty, who leads the Strabane Community Project, said the garden will open in September after construction work over the summer.
She said the relocation represents a long-lasting legacy for the town.
Lorraine Harper, a volunteer with the project, described the garden as a dream come true.
The design features intersecting paths, a quiet seating area, and a reciprocal timber arch.
Hardy visited Strabane before designing the garden.
The plants were selected to suit conditions in Strabane.
This marks the first time a Chelsea Flower Show garden has been moved to Northern Ireland.
The project was funded by Project Giving Back.
