Two parades will take place in Belfast city centre on Saturday May 16. The March for Jesus expects 8,000 participants from 2pm to 4.30pm. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) Belfast parade expects 3,000 participants and 1,000 supporters from 12pm to 3pm.

Both events follow routes that overlap on Victoria Street, Chichester Street, High Street, Castle Place and Donegall Place, ending at Belfast City Hall. The March for Jesus starts at Ormeau Embankment and includes a rally in front of City Hall until 5pm. The IPSC parade starts at Donegall Street and ends at Donegal Square East.

March for Jesus organiser Pastor John Ahern from All Nations Church in Dublin stated that coordination with police and Belfast City Council ensures no conflicts. He noted that police have liaised between organisers on timing, routes and safety measures.

Ahern described the March for Jesus as non-political and open to participants from all churches, denominations and backgrounds. He said the event centres on worship, prayer and public testimony to Christian faith.

Organisers have arranged staggered schedules, trained stewards, paramedics and police traffic management. Ahern said participants are encouraged to act peacefully and respectfully.

Last year the March for Jesus cancelled its planned June 7 parade due to logistical and safety concerns. Ahern accepted responsibility, noting the Dublin sister event faced fewer regulations. The Belfast event occurred in August.
