Daniel Coleman Named Arts Council Artist of the Month for May 2026
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland named Daniel Coleman as Artist of the Month for May 2026.
Coleman was born in Armagh. He graduated with First Class honours in Fine Art Painting from the Belfast School of Art in 2016. He holds a studio at Queen Street Studios. Coleman received the Hennessy Craig Award in 2026.
He teaches Art & Design, Media, Moving Image Arts and Special Educational Needs.
His work addresses the impermanence of life and the value of daily routines. It includes symbolism linked to his rural Irish background.
The painting 'The Window at the End of the Hall' belongs to the Arts Council of Northern Ireland art collection. Coleman showed it in his 2023 solo exhibition 'Shadows On The Wall'. That series of paintings examined connections between locations and personal experiences. It drew from memory and time to highlight routine moments.
