A mural depicting Rory McIlroy and five other Irish golf Major winners now appears on the gable wall of The Hutt Hostel on Downs Road in Newcastle. The Hutley family commissioned the work as thanks to McIlroy for his frequent praise of Royal County Down golf club.

Visual Waste, a graffiti artist from Belfast, designed and painted the mural over five days from April 20 to 24. The artwork places the six golfers - Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell, Darren Clarke and Fred Daly - on the right side. Royal County Down golf club occupies the left side.

Terry Hutley stated the family drew inspiration from Royal County Down and McIlroy's public comments. He noted they sought to return recognition to their area of Northern Ireland and extend golf's presence into the town.

Planning began after McIlroy's first Masters win in April 2025. The family hoped for his Grand Slam completion but delayed start due to busy summer 2025 schedules and poor autumn and winter weather.

Hutley added they took cues from a Shane Lowry mural in Portrush, created after his Open victory there. Good spring weather and McIlroy's back-to-back Masters wins prompted action.
