CAFRE Students Tour Limavady Machinery Dealership
Students from the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise's Greenmount Campus visited D.A. Forgie's dealership in Limavady. The group undertakes the Level 3 Land-based Engineering programme.
Managing Director Susan Forgie welcomed the students. She gave an overview of the company and its products. These include Kubota diggers, tractors and RTVs, Merlo telehandlers, Kverneland agricultural machinery and horticultural equipment.
Students discussed machinery pricing, maintenance and repair. In the yard they viewed agricultural equipment. One machine observed was a Kverneland fast bale combi baler that bales and wraps without stopping.
They also saw a new Kubota digger under pre-delivery inspection. The tour included workshops where maintenance and repair work takes place. Staff introduced the horticultural equipment range.
Susan Forgie stressed customer and staff relationships. She noted after-sales support, reliability and trust aid long-term success.
The company uses an on-site wind turbine for electricity. It generates power for the dealership and feeds surplus into the national grid.
The visit covered machinery sales, servicing, innovation, sustainability and customer relations. It highlighted career options in land-based engineering.
