Former Magee College Lecturer Dr Kenneth Adams Dies Suddenly in Derry
Dr Kenneth Adams, a former lecturer in engineering mathematics at Magee College, died suddenly at his home in the Waterside area of Derry on Wednesday.
Adams taught on the electronics and computing degrees at the Ulster University campus. Before academia, he worked as an engineer with BT. He served as a leading trade unionist with the National Communications Union.
In 2007, Adams earned a PhD from Ulster University on multiple-valued logic. That thesis received recognition as the best in its faculty for the year.
He also lectured in mathematics at Sino-British College in Shanghai. His research appeared in journals and at international symposia. Topics covered data mining, big data, aggregation, information theory, game theory and artificial intelligence.
Adams is survived by his wife Grace, children Jonathan, Joanne, Richard and Christopher, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings Vivian and Robin.
His funeral takes place on Sunday, followed by interment at Ballyoan.
