A fundraiser launched in Bangor has raised over £7000 for K9 Search and Rescue after an attack on volunteer Ryan Gray and his dog Max. The incident occurred on Bangor High Street on the evening of March 27. A group of 15-20 youths carried out the assault, leading to the arrest of four teenagers.

Leanne Bellerby, a Bangor woman and community leader for Breezemount Community Association, started the online fundraiser. She expressed shock at the attack on the charity workers who assist in searches for missing persons. K9 Search and Rescue was founded in 2017 by Ryan Gray.

Bellerby noted the rise in antisocial behaviour in Bangor. She stressed that one punch can cause serious injury or death and urged parents to ensure children take accountability for their actions. She called for the community to reject violence and maintain safety in Bangor.
