Four teenagers face charges after attacking a search and rescue volunteer and his dog in Bangor. The incident occurred on High Street at about 19:50 GMT on Friday, 27 March. Police responded to reports of a fight involving youths and a man.

Ryan Gray, founder of K9 Search & Rescue NI, walked his trained dog Max when assaulted. Gray sustained serious facial injuries requiring hospital treatment. Max received veterinary care after the attack.

A 13-year-old boy faces charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. One 15-year-old boy faces the same three charges. Another 15-year-old boy faces charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray. A 16-year-old girl faces charges of affray and common assault.

Police thanked members of the public who provided information after an appeal. The investigation continues with plans for further arrests. All charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

K9 Search & Rescue NI secretary Paul Donley confirmed Gray's injuries and Max's condition. Police noted multiple reports of antisocial behaviour in Bangor over recent weeks and pledged increased patrols alongside partner agencies.
