The Southern Health and Social Care Trust launched a refreshed Workplace Health and Wellbeing Framework 2025-2030. The five-year plan aims to create a safe and healthy environment with wellbeing integrated into all operations.

Maxine Williamson, Deputy Director of Workforce and Organisational Development, stated the framework builds on three years of prior progress. It targets improvements to the workplace, stronger team relationships, and support for staff physical and mental health.

The Trust plans to expand its Wellbeing Champions network. Currently around 100 staff members serve as champions. They offer peer support, promote initiatives, and connect teams to leadership. The goal is one champion per team by 2030.

Staff access various supports including mental health resources and networks. Helen Hanna, a Wellbeing Champion at Lisanally House, noted involvement since mid-2024 in sessions such as walking groups, desk yoga, nutrition advice, blood pressure checks, craft activities, and step challenges.

Recent supports include better psychological access, manager training, and facility upgrades. Vivienne Toal, Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, said the framework enhances these to aid staff care delivery to the community.

Annual action plans will implement the framework over five years. Senior leadership commits time for champions to assist colleagues across teams.
