The Southern Health and Social Care Trust launched its Annual Strategic Plan for 2026/27 at a Trust Board meeting on 26 March. The plan outlines steps to improve services, ensure financial sustainability, and increase use of digital technology for modernising care.

Elaine Wilson, Director of Planning, Performance and Informatics, stated that the plan builds on the Trust's Vision and Strategy 2030. She noted it prioritises patients, service users, and carers while advancing care delivery methods.

Wilson referenced trees planted at Trust sites when launching the Vision and Strategy. She said they represent growth, resilience, and long-term commitment as the strategy enters its second year.

Interim Chief Executive Steve Spoerry indicated the Vision and Strategy 2030 provides direction for ongoing improvements, better outcomes, and organisational sustainability. He specified a focus this year on optimising existing resources and moving care closer to patients' homes.

Trust Chair Eileen Mullan pointed out that year two of the strategy continues prior progress and sets a course for better outcomes through technology. She acknowledged challenges such as rising demand, ageing infrastructure, and financial pressures, along with planned responses.

The plan aligns resources, staff, and regional priorities. It emphasises community-based services to ease hospital pressures.
