Cathal Nolan, a man in his 60s from Crossmaglen in south Armagh, died in a two-vehicle collision on the Dundalk-Castleblayney Road. The crash occurred at Rassan, Hackballscross, shortly after 10.15pm on Monday. Nolan was pronounced dead at the scene, which involved a car and a van.

The other driver, a woman in her 20s, received treatment at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for non life-threatening injuries.

Nolan was the husband of Geraldine and father of Lynda, Karen and Steven. He was father-in-law to Derek and grandfather to Alyssa, Aoife, Kayleigh, Callum, Cailean, Caoimhe, Dylan, Ross, Niamh and Ryan. He was predeceased by his parents Maisie and Shaun Nolan, and his sister Geraldine. He is survived by brothers Kevin, Dessie and Aidan, and sisters Eleanor, Bernie and Irene, along with extended family.

Removal from McConville’s Funeral Home in O’Fiaich Square takes place at 6pm Wednesday, proceeding to his home at 71 Lismore, Crossmaglen. Visitors may pay respects from 5.30pm.

Wake hours are Wednesday 7pm to 9pm and Thursday 12 noon to 9pm. The house remains private at other times.

Funeral leaves home at 10.40am Friday for St Patrick’s Church, Crossmaglen, with Requiem Mass at 11am. The Mass streams live via the parish webcam at www.uppercreggan.co.uk, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. The house is private Friday morning.
