A family found a bag containing two dead lambs on a country road near Cappagh in County Tyrone during a community litter pick. Ursula Bradley and her family, including her seven-year-old son, made the discovery. The boy became upset by the find.

Decomposed carcasses of other animals appeared in nearby hedges and ditches. Bradley noted families often walk these roads. Two additional dead lambs lay further along the same road.

Mid Ulster District Council learned of the incident and notified the Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (Daera). Daera staff from the local veterinary office investigated. The lambs lacked tags, so their keeper remained unidentified. Daera requested information on those responsible be sent to the local veterinary office.

Independent councillor Kevin McElvogue stated animal remains dumping has occurred multiple times recently in the area, including lambs, calves and horses. He urged proper disposal through local companies.

Skeletal remains of large animals, possibly horses or cows, sat in a ditch further down the road from Cappagh. McElvogue linked this to ongoing waste dumping issues in the area. The litter pick aimed to address local litter and fly-tipping problems.
