Brian Rafferty, a 50-year-old farmer from Toomog Road, Dungannon, received a 15-month driving ban from Dungannon Magistrates Court for a drink driving offence.

The incident occurred on January 22 at around 6.15pm on Ballygawley Road, Dungannon, where police responded to a road traffic collision.

Rafferty caused the crash and tried to leave the scene. Police stopped him on Old Caulfield Road. He offered money to the injured person, who refused. Rafferty then threatened the person.

A breathalyser test showed 89 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, over twice the legal limit. Officers arrested him and took him to Dungannon custody.

Deputy District Judge Brian Archer noted Rafferty had ten penalty points on his licence already. The judge stated Rafferty did not help his case. Archer added this marked Rafferty's second court appearance in recent years for similar offences.

Defence counsel said Rafferty had driven since age 18, worked as a farmer, and supported his dependent mother. The lawyer confirmed Rafferty admitted the charges and cooperated with police.

Rafferty also faces £700 in fines.
