The Utility Regulator has published a consultation paper on SONI's draft Transmission Development Plan for Northern Ireland covering 2025 to 2034.

The plan outlines proposals for developing Northern Ireland's transmission network and interconnections over the next 10 years. It lists projects required for short-term and medium-term operation of the electricity transmission network.

Projects include new builds, upgrades or modifications, refurbishments or replacements, and combinations of transmission reinforcements and asset replacements. Each project specifies drivers for investment.

The plan covers transmission projects in two areas: North and West, and South and East.

SONI prepared the plan under Condition 40 of its license. The Utility Regulator invites views on any aspect of the plan.
