The Northern Health and Social Care Trust will hold a Community Kids Wellbeing Day at Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre in Ballymoney on Thursday 9 April from 2pm to 4pm.

The event partners with the Mae Murray Foundation and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council. It targets families with children aged 2 to 12 who have disabilities, medical conditions or developmental concerns.

Children can join inclusive cycling sessions, drumming and music activities, arts and crafts, and sensory play experiences.

Parents and carers can consult health and social care professionals on topics including physiotherapy for movement and physical development, paediatric autism services for behaviour and communication strategies, speech and language therapy for communication and eating support, occupational therapy for independence and emotional regulation, paediatric continence nursing for toileting issues, dietitians for nutrition and growth advice, public health nursing for wellbeing and health checks, and social workers for emotional needs and family pressures.

Workshops cover sleep support, emotional and behavioural guidance, continence and toileting, and fussy eating. Community organisations present include Compass Advocacy Network, Libraries NI, Family Fund, and Sensory Kids.

The venue provides a Changing Places toilet and refreshments. Attendance does not affect waiting lists or formal appointments.

Kyleigh Lough, Chief Executive of the Mae Murray Foundation, stated the event seeks to offer support, connection and fun, with parents able to ask questions and children participating in tailored activities.

Jill Bradley, Assistant Director with the Northern Trust, noted the event aims to remove barriers and provide timely access to information.
