The inquest into the death of 14-year-old Noah Donohoe, a St Malachy's College pupil, continues at Belfast coroner's court. Noah left home on his bike on 22 June 2020 to meet two friends in the Cavehill area of north Belfast. Six days later, on 27 June 2020, his body was found in a storm drain tunnel in north Belfast. A post-mortem examination determined the cause of death was likely drowning.

CCTV footage captured Noah cycling along Lower Ormeau Road in south Belfast shortly after leaving home and along York Road in north Belfast minutes before he went missing at nearby Northwood Road.

PSNI Constable Day gave evidence on Wednesday. He checked CCTV footage the day after Noah's disappearance. His notebook recorded positive sightings at a shop on Ormeau Road and on North Queen Street.

Constable Day visited the Grove Wellbeing Centre and Melville Morgan Funeral Directors on York Road around noon. Police logs noted negative results for sightings there. He arrived at the York Road area at approximately 12pm and was redeployed on an emergency call at 12.38pm.

Brenda Campbell KC, representing Noah's mother Fiona Donohoe, stated Constable Day missed Noah on footage from both locations. He agreed. He viewed footage fast-forwarded by operators around the expected time of 6pm on 22 June 2020.

Constable Day agreed checking differences between CCTV times and real time is fundamental policing. He did not recall verifying times at York Road cameras. He knew how to perform such checks from earlier footage retrievals that day.

Donal Lunny KC, representing the PSNI, noted another team later visited York Road sites and faced similar issues with footage quality and timings. Police logs showed Constable Day as the first officer to attend the PSNI CCTV suite at 9.51am on 22 June 2020.

Earlier testimony from Inspector Bell addressed a map of Noah's phone's last-known location. The map was not provided to CCTV operators as PSNI policy classifies it sensitive. Search teams received the information needed.
