Diesel Prices in Northern Ireland Reach Three-Year Peak Before Easter
Diesel prices across the UK have reached 171.17p per litre, the highest in more than three years. This marks a rise of 28.8p from 142.38p on 28 February. Petrol stands at 147.19p per litre, up 14.4p from 132.83p over the same period.
RAC head of policy Simon Williams stated that diesel drivers face the largest increases. He noted that filling a family car with petrol now costs £81, while diesel costs £94. Williams linked the rises to global oil prices above $100 per barrel.
In Ballymena, unleaded petrol sells for 138.9p to 148.9p per litre. Diesel ranges from 161.9p to 169.9p per litre at local pumps.
Prices continue to climb daily. Petrol increased by 0.9p and diesel by 1.4p in the most recent data. Further rises are expected before Easter.
Williams forecast petrol above 150p per litre and diesel nearing 180p soon. The surge coincides with preparations for Easter travel in Northern Ireland.
