Greencastle Goldmine Public Inquiry Resumes in April
The Planning Appeals Commission has set a timetable for the public inquiry into a goldmine proposal at Greencastle. The inquiry resumes on Monday, April 13, after adjournment more than a year ago due to concerns over transboundary environmental impacts.
Hearings will occur on April 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 23. They pause before a 12-day session in May and a final five-day block in June.
Topics include strategic considerations, transport and road abandonment, socio-economic effects, and cultural heritage. Environmental issues cover waste management, residential amenity, non-water and water ecology.
Statutory consultees include Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Derry City and Strabane District Council, DfI Roads, Northern Ireland Environment Agency and its Water Management Unit, Health and Safety Executive, and Geological Survey of Northern Ireland.
Last month the Planning Appeals Commission rejected requests for remote access to the proceedings.
