Wrightbus Tops UK Public Sector Bus Procurement Framework
Wrightbus, based in Ballymena, has been ranked the top supplier on Lot 4 of the TPPL Passenger Transport Framework, known as TPPLPSBUS01. The framework covers buses and coaches with 36 seats and above, including hydrogen, battery electric and diesel models.
The Procurement Partnership manages the framework and works with more than 250 suppliers to serve public sector organisations across the UK. Operators and local authorities can select Wrightbus as the primary option for new vehicles under this scheme.
Chris Martin, head of business development in the UK for Wrightbus, stated that the company has focused efforts to become a preferred choice for bus and coach purchases. He noted that external recognition from TPPL boosts their work.
James Brennan, managing director of TPPL, said Wrightbus earned the top rank through a bid that showed vehicle quality and capability. He highlighted factors like reliability, warranty, support and after-sales service as key for public buyers.
Wrightbus employs around 2,300 people and supports 7,500 jobs in its supply chain. The company operates factories in Northern Ireland and Malaysia, a service centre in Germany, and sales teams in Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Public sector bodies use such frameworks to buy vehicles faster without full tender processes. Buyers of zero-emission buses through this platform receive a 0.25% rebate on the contract value.
