Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council approved an initiative to install life-sized reproductions of National Gallery artworks across the city from spring 2027. The project will place up to 30 copies of masterpieces in the city before they move to other borough locations. The council joined 12 UK hosts and is one of two in Northern Ireland.

Councillor Scott Armstrong proposed using the initiative to invest in Folly Glen, a site in Armagh. He first raised the need for funding there in August 2023. Armstrong told the economic development and regeneration committee that Folly Glen sits on the doorstep of many residents and offers tourism potential.

Armstrong stated many locals remain unaware of the site and suggested the project could relaunch it as a council asset. He called for council officers to coordinate with other departments on improvements like footpaths and a general tidy-up before 2027. He also recommended working with the County Museum and Friends of the Folly group to integrate the site's story with the art displays.

Brian Johnston, head of tourism, arts and culture, agreed to explore the request. Johnston noted Armstrong had raised the issue multiple times. He confirmed National Gallery representatives visited Folly Glen and liked its residential layout and community alignment.
