Santander to Close Enniskillen Branch After Minimal Customer Use
Santander plans to shut its Enniskillen branch following low in-person usage. Data from an impact assessment shows 47 personal customers and one business customer made three or more transactions there from January to June 2025.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council raised objections to the closure. Jill Cush, the council's director of corporate services, contacted the bank about reliance on the branch by local groups and clubs facing online access issues. She pointed out that Omagh holds the nearest branch, requiring a 56-mile round trip for residents.
Bank representatives noted that 93 percent of customers use other methods. They consider branch location, nearby alternatives and customer preferences in decisions.
Santander intends to maintain a presence with a weekly service point. Staff are seeking sites, including possibly Fermanagh House, for a community banker to offer face-to-face help one day per week.
