Omagh Resident Gary Oddy Dies at Altnagelvin Hospital
Gary Oddy, 56, from Strule Park in Omagh, died on April 13 at Altnagelvin Hospital. He passed away peacefully with his family present.
Oddy was father to Paula and Michael. He was grandfather to four grandchildren. He was son of Alice and Stan Oddy. His brothers were Ronald, Gerard and the late Gregory.
A funeral mass took place on April 17 at Sacred Heart Church in Omagh. Fr Malachy Gallagher conducted the service.
Fr Gallagher stated that Oddy grew up in Strule Park with his parents and brothers. He noted family was central in Oddy's life. Oddy showed natural warmth in meeting people. He took pride in his children Paula and Michael. Oddy cared for his niece Ciara after she lost her father.
Fr Gallagher described Oddy as someone often central in family and friend gatherings. He followed Manchester United and Celtic football clubs. Oddy enjoyed watching matches with his brother, father, son and friend Charlie.
Fr Gallagher said the group placed Oddy in God's hands. He expressed trust in mercy and victory over death. He hoped the farewell would show affection, ease sadness and build hope.
Burial followed at Drumragh Cemetery in Omagh.
