Belfast International Airport Raises Drop-Off Charge to £5
Belfast International Airport will increase its drop-off zone fee from £3 to £5 starting Monday, March 9. The zone allows drivers up to ten minutes next to the terminal building.
The airport cited cost pressures affecting businesses in Northern Ireland as the reason for the change. This follows a previous rise from £2 to £3 in April 2023.
Alternatives include a free drop-off area in the long-stay car park. The short-stay car park offers 30 minutes free for blue badge holders.
The airport continues its £100 million investment programme, which has added a terminal extension, security hall and improved duty-free facilities. Work on forecourt layout changes will start soon to aid traffic and public transport access.
South Antrim MP Robin Swann of the Ulster Unionist Party described the increase as regrettable. He urged investment in public transport options such as reopening the Knockmore Railway Line between Antrim, Lisburn and the airport.
Swann stated such measures would reduce reliance on drop-off and short-stay parking, lowering costs for passengers and commuters. He argued the airport must remain competitive.
