The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) at Enniskillen Campus held a Careers Day featuring mock interviews for equine students. Industry professionals from various roles in the equine sector conducted the sessions, providing feedback on interview skills and employer expectations.

The event targeted final-year students, allowing them to prepare for positions such as equine lecturer, competition groom, coach, nutritionist, and stud manager. Organiser Gayle Moane, a CAFRE lecturer, stated that the programme helps students gain experience in a supportive setting amid a competitive job market.

Student Grace Harrison, a final-year BSc (Hons) Degree student, described the mock interview as beneficial for practising skills, building industry connections, and boosting confidence through supportive feedback. Cara Mae O’Connor, a final-year Level 3 Equine Management student from Lisbellaw, noted that the experience reduced her nervousness and improved awareness of verbal and non-verbal communication.

Alison Morris, Senior Lecturer, highlighted CAFRE's industry links that facilitate such opportunities, equipping students for post-graduation roles. Feedback from both students and panellists was positive.

Enniskillen Campus offers equine courses from Level 2 to BSc (Hons) Degree level and is hosting an Open Day on Saturday 7 March.
