CAFRE Enniskillen Schedules Equine Open Day Following Student Industry Placements
The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise at its Enniskillen campus will hold an equine open day on Saturday 7 March.
Ryann McPhillips, a BSc Honours Equine Management student from Omagh at the campus, finished a Diploma in Professional Practice International placement at Swail Equestrian in Wellington, Florida. She worked alongside showjumper Conor Swail, whose operation takes part in events across the United States and Canada.
The Enniskillen campus provides Level 3 Equine Management and Level 2 Equine Care courses. These programmes feature industry study trips, including recent visits to Philip McBurney Racing, Glenpatrick Sport Horses and Cavan Equestrian Performance Sales.
Students on the trips observed practices in racing care, sport horse training and horse sales preparation.
CAFRE, under the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, delivers vocational education in land-based sectors throughout Northern Ireland. The Enniskillen site specialises in equine studies.
