A member of Murlough Athletics Club completed a 24-hour running challenge at Kilcoo GAC to raise money for Cancer Fund for Children and the club itself.

Diane McKay ran 2.1 miles every hour on the hour for 24 hours, beginning on Friday past. She described the lack of sleep as one of the hardest aspects of the challenge, alongside the physical demands.

As the event went on, fatigue set in, but McKay said she remained focused on completing one lap at a time and reminded herself of the reasons she had started.

She credited the support of fellow participants and her clubmates for helping her through the difficult periods, noting that the encouragement and shared experience made a significant difference.

McKay said completing the challenge gave her a sense of achievement and that she was grateful for the support she received.
