Four employees of Murdock Builders Merchants completed a 110km run in under 24 hours to raise funds for three Northern Ireland charities.

The challenge, which began at 11:30am on Thursday June 11 and ended at 11am the following day, involved the runners covering 10km loops starting from each of the company's branches across Northern Ireland.

The participants were Connor Gough, Drew Fowler, Stephen Patterson and Kevin Murdock. Each runner dedicated their effort to a specific cause.

Mr Gough ran in support of Daisy Lodge, a facility operated by the Cancer Fund for Children that provides respite for families affected by childhood cancer. He said the charity offers vital support to families during difficult times and that the run was a way to give back.

Mr Fowler supported the Down Syndrome Association NI, noting that the physical challenge paled in comparison to the daily difficulties faced by individuals with Down syndrome and their families. He expressed hope that the funds raised would make a tangible difference.

Mr Patterson ran for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, highlighting the devastating impact of MND on families and the importance of funding research into new treatments and a potential cure.

Martin Farrell, managing director of Murdock Builders Merchants, described the challenge as a reflection of the company's community spirit and praised the team for their commitment to the causes.

A GoFundMe page has been established to collect donations for Daisy Lodge, Down Syndrome Association NI and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
