Dungannon man fined and banned for drink driving after police spot car swerving
A Dungannon man has been fined and disqualified from driving after being caught over the legal alcohol limit.
Lawson Marondera, aged 35, of Donaghmore Road, appeared at Dungannon Magistrates Court on a charge of driving with excess alcohol in breath.
The court heard that at around 2.10am on August 16, police on patrol on Moy Road observed a vehicle driving in the middle of the road and swerving. Officers followed the vehicle to CoolHill Mews, where they stopped it and spoke to the driver.
Prosecuting counsel said officers noticed a smell of intoxicating liquor. Marondera stated he had been drinking in Belfast.
A breath test showed an alcohol reading of 86 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, more than double the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.
Marondera, who represented himself, told the court he was very sorry.
He was fined £250, ordered to pay a £15 offender levy, and disqualified from driving.
