Bangor claimed the Spectator and Chronicle Cup with a 2-0 victory over Ards at Clandeboye Park on Thursday evening.

The Seasiders took the lead inside five minutes when Lucas McRoberts finished from close range after a cross from Jack O’Mahony.

Ards had a chance to equalise shortly after through Fintan O’Boyle, but his effort was blocked by Alfie Mitchell.

The match remained tight until the 70th minute when Mick Morgan doubled Bangor’s lead, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner after link-up play with Lewis Harrison and Stephen McGuinness.

Bangor are set to continue their pre-season preparations with a double header on Saturday, facing Comber Rec and Dundela.
