Two men from Derry have been returned for trial on multiple assault charges.

Shane Coyle, 27, of Kingsmere Gardens, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and assault causing actual bodily harm against one alleged victim on 12 April 2025. He also faces a further assault charge against a different alleged injured party on the same date, as well as harassment between 10 and 12 April 2025.

Brian Friel, 24, of Clonmeen Drive, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and assault causing actual bodily harm against the same alleged injured party on 12 April 2025, along with a separate assault charge against a different alleged injured party on the same date.

At a preliminary hearing, the court found there was a case to answer and no submissions were made against sending the defendants for trial. Neither defendant called witnesses or made written statements.

Both men were released on bail and are due to appear at the Crown Court for trial on 5 October.
