Police officers in Derry responded to reports of a fight between two men in Sackville Street shortly before 21:30 BST on Friday, 17 April. One man acted aggressively toward the officers and a bottle he held smashed during the incident.

Two officers received hand and arm injuries. A 19-year-old male was arrested at the scene.

The teenager faces charges of two counts of assault on police, two counts of resisting police, and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Additional charges include causing grievous bodily harm with intent to resist apprehension and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He will appear at Londonderry Magistrates' Court on Monday, 20 April. The Public Prosecution Service will review the charges as standard procedure.
