Fermanagh GAA honours two club figures after deaths
Two men who dedicated decades to Gaelic games in Fermanagh have died, drawing tributes from their clubs and the county board.
Seamus McLoughlin was the honorary president of Newtownbutler First Fermanagh’s GAA club. He had a lifelong involvement with the club, as a player and then in administration. He served as vice-chairperson of Fermanagh GAA from 1986 to 1989. In recent years, he performed the official opening of two new pitches at the club’s Prunty ground, in August 2022 and in May of this year.
Tommy Callaghan was the president of Roslea Shamrocks. He played for the club in the 1950s and was part of what was known as the Glorious 50s team. He later took on executive roles and was instrumental in developing the club’s playing facilities.
The clubs said the men’s contributions were vital to the success of their organisations. Fermanagh GAA also paid tribute to their service and extended condolences to their families.
