The parents of Stephen Ogilvie have called for an end to misinformation and community division after their son was stabbed in north Belfast. DUP leader Gavin Robinson met the family on Thursday and said Mr Ogilvie’s condition was improving, though he remained in a coma.

The attack on Kinnaird Avenue on June 8 cost him his left eye. Two nights of disorder ensued. Through Mr Robinson, the parents said they did not want the incident exploited to foster intimidation or splits, and asked that false stories be stopped.

They expressed hope that Mr Ogilvie would be woken from the coma within two days, after which doctors would assess the full damage. The family thanked supporters but insisted the focus should be on peace.
