Almost 1,700 pupils from 44 schools participated in the Fermanagh and Omagh Primary School Cross Country Championships, held over five days at the Bawnacre Centre in Irvinestown.

Organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, the event featured races for P4 through P7 year groups, with both individual and team awards presented.

Council Chair Councillor Debbie Coyle said the championships encouraged young people to lead active, healthy lifestyles and thanked the schools for their backing of physical activity initiatives.

On the first day of competition, St Macartan’s Primary School in Roslea won the overall girls’ team title and St Joseph’s Primary School in Donagh took the boys’ team award. Subsequent days saw St Dympna’s Primary School in Dromore, St Conor’s Primary School in Omagh, and Irvinestown Primary School each secure both the girls’ and boys’ overall team prizes.

The final day brought a shared boys’ team win for Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School in Greencastle and St Mary’s Primary School in Maguiresbridge, while Our Lady of Lourdes topped the girls’ standings.
