A sponsored walk around Craigavon Lakes will take place on Sunday, June 14, in memory of Tandragee teenager Blake McCaughey. The event, organised by his family, will cover 18 miles, marking the 18 years of his life.

His sister Pixie, 15, set up Blake's Lasting Legacy to provide memory boxes to families facing the loss of a child. The boxes, distributed through hospitals and funeral directors, contain items such as handprint kits, forget-me-not seeds, and a candle inscribed with 'loved beyond the rainbow'.

Pixie, a pupil at Craigavon Integrated College, also created sibling packs for brothers and sisters. Nine memory boxes have been given out in the past month following a positive reception.

Blake, who had a rare genetic disorder, died in January. His mother Christine said the family wanted to channel their grief into something positive, and the community's support has been strong.

The walk will start at 12 noon from South Lakes Leisure Centre. Participants can complete one or more of six scheduled laps, each starting on the hour. Sponsor forms are available from the family, and donations can be made online.
