18-mile Craigavon Lakes walk raises funds for Blake’s Lasting Legacy
Participants completed an 18-mile circuit of Craigavon Lakes on Sunday to raise funds for Blake’s Lasting Legacy, a charity founded in memory of Blake McCaughey. The distance was chosen to mark the 18 years of his life.
The charity works to improve the lives of families caring for children with complex medical issues. It was established by Blake’s parents, Andrew and Christine McCaughey, following his death.
Christine McCaughey told supporters the challenge was intended to celebrate her son’s love for life and his adventures. In a social media post on Sunday morning, she said the effort would also honour other children who died young, and she named several friends of Blake’s who had passed away, acknowledging the pain felt by their families.
Blake’s parents and his sister Pixie, who carried a photograph of him, were joined by extended family and friends near the finish. Supporters provided refreshments for walkers between laps of the lakes.
