Fermanagh and Omagh landmarks to light up for June awareness events
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has announced a programme of illuminations at two landmarks to mark a series of awareness days during June.
Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre in Omagh will each be lit in different colours to highlight various causes, beginning on June 7 with Tourette's Awareness Day, when teal lighting will be used.
The initiative continues on June 13, with the Strule Arts Centre illuminated to recognise Pride, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and promoting equality and inclusion.
Neurodiversity Pride Day will be marked on June 16, with Enniskillen Castle lit to celebrate the strengths of neurodiverse individuals and encourage understanding.
International Dravet Syndrome Awareness Day on June 23 will see buildings lit in purple to draw attention to the rare form of epilepsy that begins in infancy.
Purple lighting will also be used on June 27 for Deafblindness Awareness, highlighting challenges faced by people with combined sight and hearing loss.
The series concludes on June 28 with International PKU Day, when buildings will be illuminated in green to raise awareness of phenylketonuria, a rare metabolic disorder.
The council stated that the illuminations aim to show support for affected communities and encourage greater understanding across the district.
