Fermanagh and Omagh District Council announced funding of more than £120,000 for events and festivals across the district over the next year. The allocation supports medium and large-scale activities in Tyrone and Fermanagh.

Events in Omagh include barbecues at the Ulster American Folk Park, the Omagh Pride parade, a festival in Dromore, and the Great Northern Road Run with vintage steam engines. In Tyrone, a Twilight Harvest Festival takes place at Gortin Glen Forest Park this autumn, along with the National Cyclocross Series at Ecclesville Centre.

Fermanagh events feature an angling programme, Twelfth of July celebrations, the Fermanagh Feast and Folk Festival at Enniskillen Castle, and Brassfest at the Buttermarket.

Cllr Barry McElduff, chair of the council, stated the investment shows commitment to a year-round events economy. He noted it aids organisations, volunteers, and communities that make the area vibrant for living, working, and visiting.

McElduff added the support covers sporting and cultural events, family attractions, and local celebrations, providing benefits to towns, villages, and rural communities.

The council opened an expression of interest process for a Halloween event in Omagh to deliver a seasonal activity and expand the autumn events schedule.
