Two Men Remanded in Custody Over Alleged Fraud and Stolen Vehicle in Enniskillen
Two men have been remanded in custody after appearing at Dungannon court and are to face a bail hearing at Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Romulus Munteanu, 28, and Muntean Averescu, 30, both of no fixed abode, appeared in court on Saturday following their arrest on 4 June at commercial premises on Main Street in Claudy, County Derry, and on the Sligo Road in Enniskillen.
Munteanu faces two charges of fraud by false representation and one charge of handling property alleged to have been stolen in the Republic of Ireland.
The first fraud allegation involves an incident on 28 May at a SPAR store, where Munteanu is accused of dishonestly making a false representation by distracting staff to make a gain or cause loss.
The second allegation, said to be carried out as a joint enterprise, concerns claims of distraction and sleight of hand at a Post Office on the same date.
Munteanu is also accused of possessing a vehicle on 4 June, knowing it had allegedly been stolen in the Republic of Ireland.
Averescu faces one charge of fraud by false representation relating to the same Post Office incident on 28 May, one charge of handling the same vehicle, and one charge of obstructing police during the execution of their duties on 4 June.
A police officer gave evidence connecting both men to the charges. They were remanded in custody and will appear at Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court on Monday for a bail hearing.
