Glens of Antrim has secured a contract with Tesco Northern Ireland to supply a new range of pre-selected potatoes in stores across the region.

The Ballycastle company developed the 'Perfect for...' line over three years. The products are Perfect for Roasties, Perfect for Chips and Perfect for Creamy Mash.

Each variety was chosen after field trials of 20 types suited to local growing conditions. The firm spent £180,000 on product development and a new automated packaging line.

Michael McKillop, managing director of Glens of Antrim Group, said the Tesco listing marks a major step for the business and gives shoppers access to locally grown potatoes matched to specific uses.

Nigel Doherty, produce buying manager at Tesco NI, said the range adds clarity in the produce aisle and supports Northern Ireland growers.

Chef Stephen Ferris, the company's ambassador, noted that QR codes on the packs link to cooking guidance.

The products are now available in Tesco Northern Ireland stores.
