UFU deputy president highlights need for innovation after SIAL Paris visit
Northern Ireland's agri-food sector must remain innovative and efficient to compete internationally, Ulster Farmers' Union deputy president Clement Lynch said after attending the SIAL food trade show in Paris.
During the event, Lynch and union representatives gained insight into emerging global food trends and the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
He said the visit underscored the strong reputation of Northern Ireland food products and the potential to expand their reach in global markets.
Farmers in the region produce food underpinned by high standards of animal welfare, traceability and environmental responsibility, Lynch said, and there are significant opportunities to build on these strengths.
The visit, facilitated by the Livestock and Meat Commission, allowed the UFU to engage with industry colleagues and strengthen supply chain relationships.
Lynch said the delegation returned with a better understanding of market trends and confidence in Northern Ireland's ability to deliver high-quality products globally.
