Tesco Plans New Express Store in Strabane, Tyrone
Tesco has confirmed plans to open a new Express store in Strabane, County Tyrone, before March 2027. The store will be the first Tesco outlet in West Tyrone and will add to the company's existing 57 stores across Northern Ireland.
The development includes a 2,422 square foot retail unit, along with a service yard and a car park with 46 spaces. Derry City and Strabane District Council's Planning Committee has approved the project.
Up to 40 jobs will be created during the construction phase. Once operational, the store is expected to provide 20 full-time and part-time positions.
Nick Johnson, Tesco Group property director, stated that the expansion supports jobs and local economies. He added that the company aims to serve more communities with quality products and customer service.
Strabane is located on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Tesco's wider UK plans include over 70 new Express stores by March 2027.
