Larne woman receives royal message on 100th birthday
Ethel Blair of Larne marked her 100th birthday on 20 May with a letter from the King and a delivery from the County Antrim Lord-Lieutenant’s office.
Blair, born in Magheramore in 1926, has shopped at Asda Larne every Saturday for more than 15 years.
Staff at the store presented her with flowers, cupcakes and a card during a visit after her birthday.
Blair said she was touched by the gifts and by the recognition from the Asda team.
Her family and 18 friends joined her for a meal to mark the occasion.
Blair worked as a seamstress after training in dressmaking and retired more than 30 years ago.
Staff described her as a familiar and regular presence at the store since it opened in 2010.
