Donemana Presbyterian Church held a weekend of celebrations to mark its 150th anniversary. The events included a Harvest Flower Festival, a book launch, and a special Harvest Thanksgiving service.

The anniversary began on Friday evening with a Praise Service and book launch. The choir, directed by organist Sharon Gamble, performed two pieces. Clerk of Session Derick Gamble welcomed attendees. Rev. Dr. Seth Wright, the current minister, led prayer and launched his new book, A History of Donemana Presbyterian Church and its Early Ministers. Wright spent two years researching the church's ministers dating back to 1832. In his address, he introduced the first three ministers: Rev. John Monteith, Rev. James McMath, and Rev. David Hay.

The book contains details of a clergyman in court, a near-riot, and a romance between a minister and a woman from the American South. It covers how the ministers guided the congregation through the Great Famine, both World Wars, and modern times. Books were sold after the service during a time of fellowship.

On Saturday, the church displayed flower arrangements at each window. Each arrangement featured a photograph of a previous minister in time sequence and focused on a local interest, such as fish and the river, beekeeping and agriculture, with a Bible verse. Children enjoyed finding mice, birds, butterflies and fish within the displays. Refreshments were available in the church hall throughout the day.

The celebrations concluded on Sunday with the annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service. The church was packed with several generations of families. Wright led the service and gave a children's address. The children from Sunday School sang the chorus of It takes an Almighty Hand. The baptismal record since 1871 was on display, and visitors could look up their own or loved ones' baptism dates. The church remained open in the afternoon for those unable to attend on Saturday.

Wright thanked everyone involved, including Yvonne Rogers for her work on the arrangements and all who helped with decoration, catering, car parking, guiding visitors, the choir, and donations. Prayers were offered that visitors were blessed by the experience.
