Police in Northern Ireland have launched an investigation following reports of a parade that took place in north Belfast without prior notification.

The procession is believed to have occurred in the Shankill Road area on Monday. Under law, organisers of public processions must notify the Parades Commission, which then decides whether to place conditions on the event. Failure to notify is an offence.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said enquiries are ongoing and appealed for anyone with information to come forward. No further details about the nature of the parade or those involved were provided.

This is not the first time police have investigated un-notified parades in the area. Such incidents can raise tensions, but police did not report any disorder associated with this event.

Investigations of this type can take time as officers gather evidence and witness statements. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
