A tapestry created by the South East Fermanagh Foundation has been placed on display at St Patrick's Church of Ireland Cathedral in Armagh.

The work, titled The Quiet Courage, recognises the role of women during the Troubles and will remain in the cathedral until May 21.

It was presented to the public on Sunday after a service attended by victims' families.

Kenny Donaldson, director of the foundation, said the tapestry acknowledges the special role of women over the years of the Troubles. He stated that women were the anchors of families and communities and that their contributions helped prevent all-out civil war.

Donaldson said the display in the cathedral was intended to symbolise the strength women drew from their faith during the conflict.

Karen McAnerney, whose brother Terence McKeever was killed by the IRA in 1986, took part in the service.

Pupils from The Royal School, Armagh and St Catherine's College attended the event.
