Kilcoo GAC plans a 30,000 square foot indoor training facility at its Dublin Road grounds in Kilcoo. The structure will measure 70 metres by 40 metres with a 4G playing surface and ball wall. It will connect to the west of the existing community hall and include high-level ventilated louvred vents on long walls.

A public consultation event takes place in the community hall at Páirc Eoghain Rua Cill Chua on 20 May from 5.30pm to 8pm. Proposal details appear online at the John McElroy Architects website. Comments can go through the website or email to the club's development officer at donalrogan@me.com. A feedback form will be at the event, with responses due by 19 June.

Prior events included a presentation to members at Kilcoo Community Centre in March and an engagement event in April. The club reports full support from attendees at those sessions. Feedback highlights benefits for sports, social development, local access, and job opportunities during construction and operation.

The proposal uses an area next to the community centre with prior approval for a 4G facility, ball wall, and floodlighting. In November 2024, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council granted permission for a 4G practice pitch, ball wall, and floodlighting west of the community hall.

Kilcoo GAC will seek a pre-application discussion with council planners before submitting a planning application. The project qualifies as a major application due to over 1,000 square metres of floor space outside a town centre. The club commits to ongoing community engagement through the process.
